Otter Lodge | Wilderness Reserve | Heveningham Otter Lodge is the newest boathouse at Wilderness Reserve, a private country estate of woodland, lakes and parkland in rural Suffolk, around two hours from London. Set on the Blyth Estate and reached by a long boardwalk winding through tall reed beds, this one-bedroom luxury lodge of 1,184 sq. ft. (110 m²) sits above the water's edge of the kilometre-long Blyth Valley Lake, surrounded by water and looking out over open parkland. The lodge sleeps two in a single en-suite bedroom, making it a secluded, romantic countryside retreat for couples. Because of its raised position above the lake, it is not suitable for children under eight or for dogs. Inside, a spacious open-plan sitting room and kitchen is warmed by an open fireplace and finished with bright, welcoming interiors. A dedicated spa treatment room sits within the lodge, alongside a private sauna and steam room. Outside, a generous decked terrace holds the lodge's own heated swimming pool and sunken hot tub, together with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, a Big Green Egg barbecue and an alfresco dining area. A rowing boat, paddleboard and Pashley bicycles are on hand for exploring the lake and the estate. Guests are looked after by a personal host and the estate's housekeeping team, with spa treatments, private dining and more than 40 outdoor and ranger-led experiences available across the reserve. For extra guests or travelling staff, four self-contained apartments close to the lodge can be arranged on request.
